EDITION SIZE: 75
Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is this very special Legacy Edition Jar Jar Binks Concept Maquette Replica which goes beyond a signature edition to provide each owner with a truly unique work-of-art.
Limited to just 75 pieces, each hand-painted maquette in this special Legacy Edition will include a premium expanded plaque including a one ofa-kind sketch, each hand-drawn by legendary ILM sculptor, Tony McVey. The included 3 5/8” wide sketch comes beautifully matted within a 5”x7” frame that also houses a hand-numbered metal nameplate, hand-signed by McVey. That frame can either stand on a table top or hang on a wall.
McVey was part of the team that did concept work for the ILM creature shop on Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the prequel films and beyond. As part of his prequel work, he sculpted several concepts for the Jar Jar Binks character. Tony’s also known for his work on Salacious Crumb and sculpting the first physical version of Grogu for The Mandalorian.
This maquette was the first step in designing what would be an unprecedented and memorable digital character. With hands-on access to the original film artifact and high resolution 3D scanning, our team crafted a faithful recreation of the concept maquette for this iconic alien from the movie.
At approximately 7” tall (including the wood display base), each is cast in solid polyurethane resin. 100% made in the U.S.A., every replica in this edition is meticulously hand painted by the artists in our New York studio, making each a unique tribute to the artistry involved behind the scenes of our favorite films! The maquettes are hand packed in a gloss black box with die-cut foam insert and COA, and double-boxed for shipping.
Do not miss this extraordinary opportunity to bring home not just an authentic replica, scanned from the original artifact, but also an original work of art with a direct connection to the artists that inspire us!
The Archive Collection - Recreating an Artifact
“Tony McVey is a legend in the movie-FX sculpting community and someone whose work has been an inspiration since before I knew his name! We’ve been so fortunate to work with Tony on our Salacious Crumb Replica and Grogu Concept Maquette Signature Edition and are thrilled to have him back for this Jar Jar Binks Legacy Edition!
Tony has hand-sketched 75 pencil drawings so that every collector that brings one of this edition into their homes has something absolutely original and extraordinary. We’re all so proud of this special Legacy Edition, and I can’t wait to see it in the collections of discerning prop and statue fans and Star Wars collectors!” – Tom Spina (Regal Robot founder)
During the production of films, the creature effects team will often dream up new and fantastic aliens and beasts by creating small scaled sculptures, called “maquettes,” to showcase their ideas. From this menagerie of maquettes, the film’s director and producer choose which characters will be brought to life for the film as costumes or puppets and what roles they will play in the story.
This incredible design was one of the early concepts for the character that would become the truly one-of-a-kind Jar Jar Binks!
We are excited to share this new entry in our expanding Archive Collection and look forward to sharing our latest art and characters with you.
