Regal Robot company founder, Tom Spina, says: “I consider Tom Savini my first FX teacher. I learned how to sculpt, mold and even punch hair reading Tom’s incredible ‘Grande Illusions’ books where he shared the secrets behind his inspiring makeup effects and creature work. I spent countless hours as a teenager in my basement laboratory, following the tips in those books and making rubber heads and monsters! In the years since, as a film prop conservationist, my studio’s had the honor of restoring incredible treasures of Savini film history from Creepshow, Friday the 13th, Tales from the Dark Side, Day of the Dead and more! When we dreamed up the Icons line, Tom Savini was one of the first on our list and we’re so honored to pay tribute to this legend and his work!”

Design Story
The special effects world is filled with iconic artists who have sparked our imagination and inspired us for decades.
Tom Savini is a legendary special effects artist, actor, and director whose groundbreaking practical effects helped define modern horror cinema. Savini created iconic makeup effects for genre-defining films including Dawn of the Dead, Friday the 13th, Creepshow, The Texas Chainsaw Masacre 2 & more! His visceral, hands-on effects work set a new standard for realism in horror and continues to influence filmmakers and FX artists around the world.
This sculpture was crafted by Regal Robot digital artist Christian Maggi with beautiful classical style textures for a hand-sculpted look. The bust was then output and hand molded for duplication in resin. Each mini-bust is hand painted in a realistic bronze look with layers of metallics and patina to accent the art-style detailing.
